John 8:12 says, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Disciples of Jesus Christ have a promise from God that we will never have to walk in darkness. This verse isn't talking about physical darkness, but spiritual darkness. Jesus says " I am the light of the world." He isn't talking about being a physical light such as the sun, moon, or stars. He is referring to being a spiritual light, a light that shines into the heart of man. He speaks words and performs works that bring enlightenment to the hearts of those who will receive it. John 8:31-32 KJV says, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
The Word of God both written and living brings spiritual light to the heart of every man that will receive it. The world is full of darkness, and anyone who lives without a relationship with God is living their life in spiritual darkness. Disciples of Jesus Christ should live their lives differently than the rest of the world. Jesus said " he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Psalms 119:105 KJV says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
If we will take heed to the Word of God our path for life will shine brighter and brighter every day. The Word of God brings light to to soul of man the same way the sun brings light upon the earth. Proverbs 4:18-19 KJV says, "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. " The only way to walk in the light is by following Jesus. Ephesians 5:8 KJV says, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
