Psalm 100:4-5 KJV says “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
When we give thanks to God we are choosing to remember His goodness from over the years and expressing our gratitude for those things. I believe you can express your thankfulness in simply saying “thank you” or it can also be expressed through a song of praise. Throughout the scriptures thanksgiving and praise can always be found together. I believe you can’t have one without the other. When you are thankful you will sing praises to the Lord and when you sing praises to the Lord you will also give Him thanks!
Ephesians 5:18-20 KJV says, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
It is God’s will that we live a Spirit-lead life and the only way we can do that it by staying filled with His Spirit. Thanksgiving and praise are the best ways that you can stay filled with God’s Spirit. When you offer these to God the living water will flow and before you know it your soul will be saturated by God’s presence. God desires for you to experience the joy and peace that He provides through His Spirit. It is up to us to make time throughout our day to sing praises and give thanks unto Him.
John 4:14 KJV says, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
I want to encourage you to set a time during your day to spend giving thanks and praising God. As you do that I believe you will be filled anew with God’s Spirit.
